FC-AFC
REBEL WITH A CAUSE
REBEL
was an exciting competitor who left his mark on the
sport of field trials. He was an extremely consistent dog, strong in all aspects of field
trials. His combination of natural talent, trainability,
handsome looks, and genetic make-up is exactly what we
need in the future of this breed. REBEL is 84
pounds, OFA
Good, has CERF eyes, normal Thyroid, excellent sperm
count, and has very black pigment. He has a
thick coat with a very even, light to medium yellow color. He has a nice
head, chest, and legs appropriate for his size. He is the ultimate housedog. He
would relax
and sleep when in his crate between series and training
tests. In the field, he wass a high-energy dog with
unlimited desire, but still very tractable and easy to
run; six different people won with him in licensed
field trials, and incredibly five different people won an
All-Age Stake
with him (including multiple wins with his owner). He
was a tremendous marker, and very
strong in the water. His blinds were superb. He ran hard
on marks and blinds. REBEL
throws these traits in his puppies.
REBEL
was the #1 Top Open Yellow for 2001!
After
an extended visit at home the summer of 2001, REBEL returned to
Blackwater Retrievers and promptly won back-to-back Opens
for the third time in three years.
He then placed three times in three weekends and was named
to the All-Time High Point Open Dog list, as featured in
the Retriever Field Trial Performance book (only seven
yellows in the history of field trials have accomplished
this honor; no others currently competing or breeding). REBEL has 10 Open Wins
and 13 All-Age Wins! He has amassed 56 Open Points and
78 1/2 All-Age points, and was the Top Open Yellow in
Wins three years in a row, and in Points for two years in a
row (one point shy in a third year).
REBEL
was the #1 Top Open Yellow, and #4 Top Open Dog, for
year 2000!
REBEL
had a remarkable season in 2000. He won 7 All-Age
stakes, and finished at
one-half of his trials. The year his owner lived close
to him, he won 40% of his trials when
handled by his owner (four wins in ten trials). He won a
Two-Handler Double-Header in the Spring. He
also won an incredible four All-Age trials in one month in
the fall (three handled by his owner), and five All-Age trials in a month and a half.
At two of these wins, his son won the Derby as well.
Rebel finished the year as the #3 Top Open Dog for wins,
and #4 Top Open Dog for points; he is the first yellow
since 1992 to be among the Top 4 Open Dogs in the United
States.
Unfortunately,
Rebel's brilliant career has been brought to an untimely
end while still in his prime. He sustained a serious injury in May of
2002. After rest and
rehabilitation, he briefly returned to the field trial
circuit until a more serious re-injury occurred in
September 2002. He was diagnosed with a tear of his biceps
tendon in the shoulder. As surgical options could not
return him to competitive form, and a long extended rest
could not guarantee against re-injury, he was retired from field
trials at the age of 7. He went out on top, placing 3rd in his
last Open even though injured while retrieving the last
bird nearly 500 yards away. Rebel is now a happy full-time house dog, and shows
no evidence of his injury.
REBEL was the
only yellow in his litter.
All
his
parents and grandparents
are black;
only one ancestor in 7 generations is yellow.
REBEL
comes from a family of great competitors and tremendous
bloodlines.
Two dogs in his litter went to field trial homes; Rebel
and his sister FC-AFC Little Ms. Chief earned 11 All-Age
Wins between the two of them in 2000, one of the greatest
brother-sister acts of all time. Both of his titled
parents were dominant competitors, each of whom were from
very successful litters. His sire was a 108 All-Age
pointed National Finalist, and was the only dog to finish
the ’94 National Amateur without a handle. His sire’s
brother was a 147 All-Age pointed National Finalist. The
two of them are featured on the cover of the Retriever
Field Trial News in the May 2002 issue. Rebel's dam earned 68 All-Age points, and is sister to 7 Field
Champions and the dam of the '98 NFC.
REBEL
is one
of only two
yellow FC-AFC
stud dog with two
FC-AFC parents.
His grandfathers are
legends in field trials, both already in the Retriever
Hall of Fame, capturing the High-Point Open
Title four times between the two of them: NAFC-FC Trumarc’s Zip Code (#2 All-Time in All-Age
Points, #2 All-Time in Open Points, #2 All-Time Sire),
and CNFC-FC-AFC-HighPointDerby Hiwood Piper
Pacer’s Pic. Rebel's grandmothers are FC-AFC Ms. Mischief’s Magic
Marker (#2 Dam of All-Time), and
Smokin’ Juicy Lucy, MH. The latter dog was a great bitch bred from a
NAFC-CNFC-FC River Oaks Corky (#1 All-Time in All-Age Points,
#1 All-Time in Open Points) son (FC-AFC-CFC Express Charger) and a
River Oaks Corky daughter; she produced 2 FC’s that accounted for
255 All-Age points though bred only once, and died young
by breaking her neck while hunting. All the dogs in his
first three generations have produced multiple FC’s, and
28 of the 30 dogs in the first 4 generations have produced
FC’s (of the other two, one was granddam to 3 National
Champions and 36 FC’s, the other granddam to a CNFC and
6 FC’s). In the first 4 generations are 4 of the 7 most
prolific stud dogs of all-time; also the top 3, and 4 of
the top 9 all-time high point all-age dogs (there is also
a littermate of a 5th dog in the top 9). No
other yellow stud dog today has such strong bloodlines.
We
get calls all the time for his pups, and will be happy to
help you market and sell your litter. Please do not
hesitate to call should you have any further questions. Thank
you for your interest in REBEL.
